Always on the farm...

I grew up on a farm in Georgia, where animals were simply part of everyday life. Horses, Boxer dogs, chickens, and pigs filled my childhood, and caring for them taught me early that our relationships with animals can shape us in ways we carry for a lifetime.

Life has taken me far beyond those farm roots. I’ve had the opportunity to live in Europe, travel, experience other cultures, and see a much bigger world—but my love for animals and creating art has remained a constant thread through it all.

These days, I’m no longer able to have horses of my own, so in many ways, my dog has become my horse. I have a feeling quite a few former horse girls will understand! My rescue Boxer, Lollipop, has brought that deep connection with animals right back into my everyday life—the companionship, personality, trust, and even a little stubbornness.

As an artist, I’m fascinated by how we can express those relationships through more than a simple likeness. I love exploring color, expressive marks, movement, collage, and other artistic approaches that capture something of who an animal is and what they mean to us.

For me, painting animals is really about painting relationships. Whether it’s a beloved dog, a horse, or another animal that has found its way into someone’s heart, I want my artwork to celebrate the bond we share with them—and create something meaningful that lasts.
